Welcome
The Forest Professional Regulators of Canada (FPRC) is an advisory group composed of representatives of forest professional regulatory organizations across Canada and the Canadian Institute of Forestry, which represents those jurisdictions in which forestry is not a regulated profession.
FPRC's mission is to provide coordination of programs and services enabling transparent, impartial and procedurally fair registration practices of forest professionals by regulators in Canada.
Purpose
FPRC's purpose is to promote consistency in the regulation of forest professionals in Canada, coordinate and communicate issues that affect the regulation of forest professionals, enable movement for forest professionals between jurisdictions, define standards for entry to practice, accredit forest professional post-secondary programs and conduct credential assessments.
Programs
Accreditation
The accreditation process reviews post-secondary forestry programs against defined educational standards for certification. This enables graduates to apply for registration as a forest professional in Canada.
Credential Assessments
The Credential Assessment Process (CAP) assesses applicants for registration as a forest professional against a common set of competency-based academic and work experience requirements.

New Standards for Credential Assessments
January 1, 2021
The Forest Professional Regulators of Canada (FPRC) - Central Assessment Authority (CAA) is adopting the 2017 certification standards for professional forestry practice and a new online system for the Credential Assessment Process (CAP) in 2021.
The new online CAP system will be available starting late February 2021 if people choose to participate. CAP applications will be accepted under the current process for the January and April 2021 intakes. This will allow applicants time to get familiar with the new CAP system website and complete data entry and uploads in time for the April 1, 2021 intake.
The final intake for CAP applications under the current process is April 2021. Individuals who plan to submit their CAP applications after April 2021 must use the current certification standards and the new online system.
For more information please contact the applicable provincial regulator directly.
